What we're doing

With our technical partner CQUniversity, whose research helped bring stevia into Australian food, we're building a stevia crop industry and an extraction facility to serve Australian and overseas markets.

  1. 01

    Industry development

Australian Stevia and CQUniversity are running crop trials and the associated extraction of stevia.

  2. 02

    Cultivation

Our cultivation trial programme is building understanding of how stevia performs in Australian conditions and developing methods to improve yields.

  3. 03

    Processing plant

We are developing a dedicated Australian stevia processing facility, so locally grown leaf can be extracted and refined close to the farm.

  4. 04

    Product distribution

We supply finished stevia to food and beverage manufacturers in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and export leaf to partner companies in Asia.

Two decades with stevia.

  1. 2004

    Our principals take up stevia

Australian Stevia’s principals begin promoting stevia to Australian food and beverage manufacturers as a natural, zero-calorie substitute for sugar.

  2. 2008

Stevia approved for food in Australia

Food Standards Australia New Zealand approves steviol glycosides as a food ingredient, an approval supported by research from CQUniversity’s Plant Science Group. Stevia can now be used in foods and drinks across Australia and New Zealand.

  3. 2012

    Research into Australian-grown stevia

CQUniversity researchers publish their findings on growing Stevia rebaudiana in Australian conditions, including yield and steviol glycoside content.

  4. 2019

    Building a local industry

Australian Stevia sets out to build a stevia cultivation and processing industry in Australia, with CQUniversity as technical partner.

  5. 2021

    Erythritol joins the range

Australian Stevia Erythritol Co. is established to supply erythritol, the bulk sweetener that pairs naturally with stevia.

  6. Today

    Supplying Australia & Asia-Pacific

We supply stevia and erythritol sweeteners to food and beverage manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors in Australia and across Asia-Pacific.

Healthier diets, naturally.

Around the globe, people want natural, healthy and sustainable ingredients: products that are good for them, their families and the planet. Our mission is to encourage healthier diets around the world by supplying natural ingredients to the local and international food and beverage industry.

We are dedicated to producing high-quality stevia at scale and offering competitive wholesale pricing to businesses developing products with natural sweeteners. We supply Australian manufacturers and wholesalers and export our products globally. Our Australian processing facility, now in development, will let us refine locally grown leaf close to the farm.

A global natural-ingredient market built on great-tasting stevia.

Since 2004, Australian Stevia's principals have worked with stevia and promoted it to food and beverage manufacturers as a healthier substitute for sugar.

We're pioneering a vertically integrated stevia supply chain. With partners, customers and suppliers, we're committed to great taste, consumer acceptance and supply at scale, delivered responsibly and sustainably.

Sustainable farming reduces our environmental impact, and we share what we learn with growers and their communities. This small plant can make a big difference to the planet and the people it touches.

Integrity in every part of our business.

  1. A.

    Respect

We treat employees, suppliers and customers with respect and build partnerships on mutual trust.

  3. C.

    End to end

We apply these standards at every step of our global supply chain, and only work with partners who meet them.
